Pallywood and the unfortunate victims of political agendas.

Interesting take on the Palestinian “victims” of “Israeli Violence”… It’s a little long, but it is very informative.

From Treppenwitz’s Blog: A Difficult Lesson

    July 31st, 2006

This is a good article Mircat emailed to me and felt compelled to post.

When I was in the Navy, I once witnessed a bar fight in downtown Olongapo (Philippines) that still haunts my dreams.  The fight was between a big oafish Marine and a rather soft-spoken, medium sized Latino sailor from my ship.

All evening the Marine had been trying to pick a fight with one of us and had finally set his sights on this diminutive shipmate of mine… figuring him for a safe target.  When my friend refused to be goaded into a fight the Marine sucker punched him from behind on the side of the head so hard that blood instantly started to pour from this poor man’s mutilated ear.

Everyone present was horrified and was prepared to absolutely murder this Marine, but my shipmate quickly turned on him and began to single-handedly back him towards a corner with a series of stinging jabs and upper cuts that gave more than a hint to a youth spent boxing in a small gym in the Bronx.

Each punch opened a cut on the Marine’s startled face and by the time he had been backed completely into the corner he was blubbering for someone to stop the fight.  He invoked his split lips and chipped teeth as reasons to stop the fight.  He begged us to stop the fight because he could barely see through the river of blood that was pouring out of his split and swollen brows.

    Nobody moved.  Not one person.

The only sound in the bar was the sickening staccato sound of this sailor’s lightning fast fists making contact with new areas of the Marine’s head.  The only sound I have heard since that was remotely similar was from the first Rocky film when Sylvester Stallone was punching sides of beef in the meat locker.

Finally the Marine’s pleading turned to screams…. a high, almost womanly shriek.   And still the punches continued relentlessly.

Several people in the bar took a few tentative steps as though they wanted to try to break it up at that point, but hands reached out from the crowd and held them tight.  I’m not ashamed to say that mine were two of the hands that held someone back.

You see, in between each blow the sailor had begun chanting a soft cadence: “Say [punch] you [punch] give [punch] up [punch]… say [punch] you [punch] were [punch] wrong [punch]“.

He had been repeating it to the Marine almost from the start but we only became aware of it when the typical barroom cheers had died down and we began to be sickened by the sight and sound of the carnage.

This Marine stood there shrieking in the corner of the bar trying futilely to block the carefully timed punches that were cutting his head to tatters… right down to the skull in places. But he refused to say that he gave up… or that he was wrong.

Even in the delirium of his beating he believed in his heart that someone would stop the fight before he had to admit defeat.  I’m sure this strategy had served him well in the past and had allowed him to continue on his career as a barroom bully.

Finally, in a wail of agony the Marine shrieked  “I give up“, and we gently backed the sailor away from him.

I’m sure you can guess why I have shared this story today.

I’m not particularly proud to have been witness to such a bloody spectacle, and the sound of that Marine’s woman-like shrieks will haunt me to my grave.  But I learned something that evening that Israel had better learn for itself if it is to finally be rid of at least one of its tormentors:

This is one time an Arab aggressor must be allowed to be beaten so badly that every civilized nation will stand in horror, wanting desperately to step in and stop the carnage… but knowing that the fight will only truly be over when one side gives up and finally admits defeat.

    It’s a gnat, It’s a fly… No!! It’s U.N. Man!

    July 27th, 2006
My buddy Mircat sent me this link from Michelle Malkin’s blog. So, so true, considering it’s over 33 years old!

    From Michelle Malkin’s Blog:

    Michelle:
Thanks to reader Giles Babb for sending me this decades-old Oliphant cartoon he clipped from the December 1, 1972, issue of Stars and Stripes.

Babb writes: “You could just as easily run the cartoon in tomorrow’s paper, and no one would know that it had run nearly 34 years earlier.”

America is sending this sweet piece of hardware to Israel to drop on Hezbollah, I REALLY hope they get the video coverage of this making impact. This is one serious piece of terror-ass-kicking munition.

5000 pounds of laser-guided death hurtling downwards at terminal velocity towards the terrorist stronghold Hezbollah is occupying. Supposedly over 23 tons of smaller bombs have not been able to penetrate it. Maybe this sucker will.

    YouTube sued by a dumbass…

    July 20th, 2006

Robert Tur says video he shot of the beating of trucker Reginald Denny during the 1992 Los Angeles riots was posted at YouTube without his permission and viewed more than 1,000 times. Tur says in his lawsuit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court, that YouTube is profiting from his work while hurting his ability to license his video.

Give me a F\/C|<|/\/G break!  Someone is angry over not being able to make money off crap like this?!  This is probably the stupidest lawsuit I have heard of recently.

YouTube states that they are fall within Safe Harbor and are therefore safe under the DCMA since they are not responsible for the content posted by users.

Who really cares, except Mr. Tur(d)?

Interesting: Railroads and a Horse’s ass.

    July 19th, 2006

Does the statement, “We’ve always done it like that” ring any bells?

    track.jpg
    track.jpg
The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches. That’s an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used?

Because that’s the way they built them in England , and English expatriates built the US Railroads.

Why did the English build them like that?

Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the pre-railroad tramways, and that’s the gauge they used.

Why did “they” use that gauge then?

Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they used for building wagons, which used that wheel spacing.

Okay! Why did the wagons have that particular odd wheel spacing?

Well, if they tried to use any other spacing, the wagon wheels would break on some of the old, long distance roads in England because that’s the spacing of the wheel ruts.

So who built those old rutted roads?

Imperial Rome built the first long distance roads in Europe (and England ) for their legions. The roads have been used ever since.

And the ruts in the roads?

Roman war chariots formed the initial ruts, which everyone else had to match for fear of destroying their wagon wheels. Since the chariots were made for Imperial Rome , they were all alike in the matter of wheel spacing. The United States standard railroad gauge of 4 feet, 8.5 inches is derived from the original specifications for an Imperial Roman war chariot. And bureaucracies live forever.

So the next time you are handed a specification and wonder what horse’s ass came up with it, you may be exactly right, because the Imperial Roman army chariots were made just wide enough to accommodate the back ends of two war horses.

Now, the twist to the story

When you see a Space Shuttle sitting on its launch pad, there are two big booster rockets attached to the sides of the main fuel tank. These are solid rocket boosters, or SRBs. The SRBs are made by Thiokol at their factory at Utah . The engineers who designed the SRBs would have preferred to make them a bit fatter, but the SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site.

The railroad line from the factory happens to run through a tunnel in the mountains.

The SRBs had to fit through that tunnel.

The tunnel is slightly wider than the railroad track, and the railroad track, as you now know, is about as wide as two horses’ behinds.

So, a major Space Shuttle design feature of what is arguably the world’s most advanced transportation system was determined over two thousand years ago by the width of a horse’s ass.

How to be a Good Liberal, Politically Correct, Progessive Democrat?

    July 19th, 2006

HOPE THIS DOESN’T OFFEND ANYONE EITHER.

First of all, almost anyone can be a good “Politically Correct Liberal Progressive Democrat.” However, there are some necessary prerequisites.

A-You must believe that even though you represent a small percentage of the population that your views and opinions are the only correct ones.

B- You must believe in and demand Freedom of Speech, but only if it agrees totally and completely with your views and opinions.

C-You must be willing to accept any type of lifestyle choice on the basis of human rights, however it is alright to find fault with those who have religious values that differ from yours.

I have listed a few examples below. Feel free to check them to see if you qualify.

    1. You have to believe the AIDS virus has nothing to do with lifestyle choices and is spread by a lack of federal funding.

    2. You have to believe our children should be taught about birth control and alternate lifestyles, but not abstinence and it’s ok for a homosexual to teach the classes. Also if you hand out condoms in school and teach students how to use them, it will end teenage pregnancies.

    3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law-abiding Americans, should be illegal, no matter what that pesky 2nd Amendment says.

    4. You have to believe that global temperatures are not affected by documented changes in the earth’s climate and documented weather cycles, but are affected by house wives driving Jeep Cherokees and using hairspray cans.

    5. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural. You also have to believe that trans genders, cross dressers and bisexuals were also “born that way.”

    6. You have to believe that mainstream religion should never be mentioned in our schools but Kwanza and the Muslim religion should be taught and celebrated.

    7. You have to be against capital punishment under any circumstances, but support abortion on demand. Just a thought-wouldn’t it be great if we could have “retroactive abortion” to apply to some of these “abortion on demand under any conditions types?”

    8. You have to believe that big businesses create oppression and that welfare and other entitlement programs creates prosperity.

    9. You have to believe that hunters don’t care about nature, but “tree huggers” who burn logging camps and kill loggers are.

    10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP - WAMP5 Server 1.6.4a

    July 18th, 2006
    WAMP5 Logo
    WAMP5 Logo
Back in April I wrote a snippet about the WebServ WAMP package, but I found a new and better one that beats the pooooo out of WebServ.

WAMP5 (1.6.4a) is basically the same but with more up to date components and has an excellent taskbar menu that can take care of a LOT of the functions you need when configuring Apache, MySQL & PHP as well as PERL and some of the other components.

    WAMP5 Menu
    WAMP5 Menu
    (see screenshot)
I’ve installed this on two machines now and it seems to work well. The only thing that didn’t seem to work right away was the ActiveState PERL.

I did get the ZEND Optimizer installed ok and the MySQL Administrator/QueryBrowser tools.

These three packages are available on the WAMP5 site as addons to the main WAMP5 (1.6.4a) and seem to install seamlessly, even restarting the Apache daemon after installation.

If you have been looking for a good way to host your Wordpress or have any PHP blog, need a development server to create a theme for it or have hosting capability and just want a simple Apache setup, check this out.

If you are going to use Permalinks on Wordpress and others, be sure to turn on mod_rewrite in the menu shown to the right under the “Apache Modules” section. That drove me nuts for a little while until I figured it out. Some additional config file editing may be required to specifically get various blog’s Permalinks to direct correctly.

About Damn Time, the Nation’s Capital Declares Crime Emergency

    July 12th, 2006

Two groups of tourists were robbed at gunpoint on the National Mall, just hours after the police chief declared a crime emergency in the city in response to a string of violence that included the killing of a British activist. The activist, Alan Senitt, was attacked in the Georgetown area on Sunday, his throat was slit and police say the attackers attempted to rape his companion. It was the 13th homicide in the city this month. Robberies are up 14 percent, and armed assaults have jumped 18 percent in the past 30 days.On Wednesday, U.S. Park Police were looking for connections between the latest Mall robberies and three similar incidents in the area in late May. There have been no arrests in any of those cases.

On Tuesday night, two women from Texas were robbed at gunpoint by two men dressed in all black, said U.S. Park Police Sgt. Scott Fear. About 15 minutes later, a family of four from Missouri was robbed by suspects with the same description, he said.

Though no one was injured, Fear said there were similarities to three violent attacks on the National Mall in May. In one case, a 17-year- old woman was sexually assaulted.

“We try to prevent this from happening,” Fear said. “We’re going to reallocate our resources. We’re going to see what improvements we can make.”

IMPROVEMENTS? Come on!  Let all law abiding citizens to either carry firearms with a permit or open even without and DC, after a lot of criminal’s getting blown away and the police having to justify it,  DC will become the safest city in America.  It’s that simple.
