Malaysian Man Gets $218 Trillion Phone Bill

    April 11th, 2006

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — A Malaysian man said he nearly fainted when he recieved a $218 trillion phone bill and was ordered to pay up within 10 days or face prosecution, a newspaper reported Monday.

Yahaya Wahab said he disconnected his late father’s phone line in January after he died and settled the 84 ringgit ($23) bill, the New Straits Times reported.

But Telekom Malaysia later sent him a 806,400,000,000,000.01 ringgit ($218 trillion) bill for recent telephone calls along with orders to settle within 10 days or face legal proceedings, the newspaper reported.

It wasn’t clear whether the bill was a mistake, or if Yahaya’s father’s phone line was used illegally after after his death.

“If the company wants to seek legal action as mentioned in the letter, I’m ready to face it,” the paper quoted Yahaya as saying. “In fact, I can’t wait to face it,” he said.

Yahaya, from northern Kedah state, received a notice from the company’s debt-collection agency in early April, the paper said. Yahaya said he nearly fainted when he saw the new bill.

Government-linked Telekom Malaysia Bhd. is the country’s largest telecommunications company.

A company official, who declined to be identified as she was not authorized to speak to the media, said Telekom Malaysia was aware of Yahaya’s case and would address it. She did not provide further details.

WAMP - Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP & PERL

For those of you who want to get into Apache,MySQL & PHP/PERL (AMP) and don’t have the knowledge or resources to setup a dedicated Linux box to play around with AMP, I suggest downloading WebServ (DOWNLOAD) which is a pre-packaged setup that installs the following:
    • Apache 2.0.55 which is the latest pre-compiled Binary version of Apache2 for the Win32 platform.
    • MySQL 4.x (I suggest not installing this part and getting MySQL 5.0.19 or greater directly from MySQL.com)
    • PHP 5.1.1, latest series of PHP.
    • ActivePerl - Don’t know/care too much about this part of it.

Over the past few days I have been working on learning PHP to convert my websites over from ASP to PHP so I can finally kiss Windoze/IIS goodbye for my own sites. So far, it has gone pretty smoothly. Both PHP and ASP have the same basic structure, although a lot of the functions vary a bit, but once you figure everything out, it’s great!

Apache is also much more responsive than ASP when it comes to heavily database driven pages. Under IIS, it just loaded at average speed, even on my local network, but now Apache/PHP is amazingly responsive… As if it is a static HTML page loading. I’m very satisfied so far.

Overall, I’ll probably still continue to do some things in ASP due to the years of experience I have with it, but I am going to limit it to only a few clients.

Here is a good ASP/PHP cross reference guide comparing the major functions side by side. It has been pretty helpful for me this past week.

Email me if you have any questions about this package and I’ll see what I can do to help.

Mexico Invades U.S.A. - Time for a New War!

    Declaration of War
It is time that we defend our country from these foreign infiltrators… This has gone on too long. These people come here, get low-paying under the table jobs, and suck the areas they live in dry. Hospitals have gone out of business due to an overwhelming number of illegals getting medical care and not paying for it.It is now time for those who are not U.S. Citizens, (children of illegals born here should not be citizens), to leave. They need to be rounded up and dumped on the other side of the fence.

Anyone who crosses back over after deportation should be shot. And those who are here legally and are citizens that commit treasoness acts should be imprisoned or deported and stripped of US Citizenship. Plain and simple.

Once they are back in Mexico, they should have to stay there for 2 years minimum before being able to apply to even visit the U.S., yet alone work. Work permits will be granted on an as needed basis, legally, through an employer. But the employer first has to prove that there is not a single American who wants the job.

This is our country and it’s long overdue that we, the “original Americans” take it back from those who are disrespecting our laws and traditions.
